la girl color addict - obsess - swatch and review

Hey, today I have one of the new LA Girl polishes I bought the other day swatched and ready to show you!
LA Girl Color Addict - Obsess.

Inexplicably, the Color Addict line isn't on the LA Girl website. However I was able to find a (pretty crappy) shade range here.
The names of these polishes thrill me!
I'm sure you can imagine how hard it was for me to only buy one of these while staring at the display full of bright colors. (Of course, I went for a teal.)
Each polish in this line is a nice saturated creme shade with golden shimmer.

LA Girl is surprisingly good for the price. They are $2.99 each here. And B3F! And cruelty free!
On to the polish!

The formula was excellent. No flooding, nearly totally opaque in one coat, but I probably could have gotten away with one if I made it a bit thicker.

This photo is color-accurate:

See all the shimmer in the bottle? As usual it isn't as noticeable on the nail, but it's still there!
This next photo isn't color accurate but shows some shimmer.

I'm really happy I picked this color. I have a lot of teal/turquoise but nothing quite like this.
I'm wearing it as a full mani now with a little somethin-somethin on top, I'll show that in my next post :)

(I might have to go back and get more of this collection. How can you not need a nail polish called "Delirious")

tex-y konad

Hey guys, I broke 150 followers!! Thanks so much to each and every one of you :)

Today I have some stamping to show you. After I wore Do You Think I'm Tex-y from the OPI Texas Collection for a few days completely by itself, I had to add something to it.
I am not one for solid-color nails!

I really like how this stamp turned out! I want to try it again with more colors.
This is from Bundle Monster plate BM20, and I stamped with Wet N Wild Wild Shine Black Creme, as always.

In a few days I'm going to post a product review! Not a sponsored one, but something I would have liked to read reviews for before I bought it.

Oh, and about the mystery polish - I think the mystery has been solved. I am 99% sure it is Uptown Girl from the Rebel Debutante collection, as my reader Natalie pointed out.
I went back to the stores that had the collections, and they all had the same one. No Fashion Addict :(
Oh well, I might buy it on eBay just to complete my set. I'm nuts like that.

mint marble nail fail

As I said the day before yesterday, I spent my day off water marbling.
Before I got the cute Kicks one done, I had tried out a mint and lavender marble like one I had seen on WAH nails.
However, my mint did not want to play nice.

You couldn't even tell it was mint!
Over the white it just looked white. Some of the nails were cute but this is the type of marble I can't keep on my nails. Haha!
For this marble I used:
Icing - Mint 2 Be
China Glaze - Spontaneous
Joe Fresh - Faded Violet

I've had a bit of school work to do again this week, I'm hoping to get to redo my nails tonight or tomorrow.

As a side note, can anyone identify this mystery polish that has found it's way into my Color Club Catwalk Queen set?!

Dusty mauve purple, not taupe-y, highly pigmented.
Mystery polish!

tetris

Hey everyone, today I just have a quick post to show some old nail art.
I did these nails as an entry to a competition just as I was getting hardcore into nail art!

Aren't these silly?

As you can see I wasn't the best nail photographer then.
The colors I used were:
Red:Unnamed
Orange: Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear - Sun Kissed
Yellow: Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear - Mellow Yellow
Green: Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear - Going Green
Blue: Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear - Blue Me Away!
Purple: Claires - Tahiti Purple
Black: LA Colors Art Deco - Black

For these I used a small brush, the art deco brush, and a lot of patience.

Aren't we all happy I got better at nails and also at taking pictures of them? Hah!

Today I acquired quite a bit of nail polish...

Click to see those babies up close!
L-R:
OPI - Dim Sum Plum
LA Girl Color Addict - Obsess (very appropriately named)
LA Girl (New nude collection, no exact name on bottle) - Secret
Color Club - Catwalk Queen 7 piece set (Thank you Winners!! :D)
I'm sure I will be using/swatching some of these very shortly. Stay tuned!

Edit: While looking at swatches, I've just noticed that my Color Club collection is missing the lovely lavender holo that is Fashion Addict! What the hell?!
There is a dusty mauvey purple in it's place! I need to go back to Winners and see if they all are missing the holo goodness!!!
(Also WTH is that purple one and where did it come from?!)

china glaze kicks water marble

Today we had a storm, and my university wasn't closed, so I decided to have a personal snow day. Hah!

I used my time wisely - I water marbled!

These are so much brighter in person than the pictures show! I took a million pictures to try and capture it but I couldn't.

Check out the middle finger!!

Love the thumb.

Tried to show more brightness without the flash, but it didn't really work.
How about a webcam picture?

I think this sort of shows the fluorescence!

I am really loving this marble. This one will stay on for a few days!

Here are the polishes I used:

Picture those colors in the marble. That's how bright it is!
These 3 polishes are from the China Glaze Kicks collection, as I mentioned in the title.
This collection was for summer 2009, and I wish I could find the rest of the polishes. I need Custom Kicks especially!
They marbled wonderfully, and of course, I painted my nails white before dipping.

Now that you've seen the nails, check out the mess water marbling creates!

Paper towels, tape, flyers, a ton of polishes to find the right combo, remover, acetone, qtips, tooth picks, yikes!
(Headband, pills and phone not required :P)
