cinnamon hearts

Hey guys! Happy Thursday.
Today I've got a seasonally appropriate nail art post for you! I don't do a lot of holiday themed art but hey, Valentine's nails are cute. Even if I don't have a valentine of my own this year. Ha!
You guys can be my valentines.

The base for this nail art is Pirate Polish - Cinnamon Girl, a lovely red jelly glitter from their Valentine's collection, which you can see my swatches of here.
And you can get 'em here in the Pirate Polish Etsy shop! (And don't forget to check them out on Facebook.)

I did the stamping using Konad Special White polish, and the images are from the 2012 Bundle Monster set. The little stars are from BM-311 and the hearts are from BM-317.

What do you guys think? I know a lot of people hate V-day... But you can't hate this mani! ;)

Pirate Polish: Love In A Cold Climate (Valentine's Day 2013)

Good afternoon!
I have a Valentine's Day polish collection to show you lovelies today - the Pirate Polish: Love In A Cold Climate Collection.
Which is super appropriate for me right now because we had yet another snow storm yesterday and it is very cold and snowy and I hate it.
At least I have my polish to keep me warm...

Four sweet and spicy polishes to make your nails feel loved this Valentine's Day.

Pirate Polish - Cinnamon Girl
This is a suuuper bright red jelly polish with lots of glitter to keep it interesting! This is 3 thin coats.
The red glitter in the red jelly is really nice, and the little holo sparkles add that extra "oomph."

I don't wear red polish too often but the vibrancy of this one was really satisfying! I did an early V-day mani with this one, but I'll save that for a future post.

Pirate Polish - Be Mine
How sweet! A pink creme with tiny gold holographic glitter and gold flakes. I love the shade of pink.
3 coats to cover all bald spots, lovely formula. Nice and subtle for those of you not into crazy glitters!

And for those of you who are into crazy glitters...

Pirate Polish - Lovandula
Love this! Purple holo diamonds, silver holo hexes, and lots more. Obviously we know this polish is perfect for me because of my love for all things pink and purple and glittery.

This is two coats of Lovandula over Be Mine. The glitter disperses really nicely! Not hard to apply and I didn't have to fish for glitter. Yay! This one is definitely my favorite of the four.

Last but not least, the namesake of the collection:

Pirate Polish - Love In A Cold Climate
Hooray for shaped glitter! This polish features blue and white/clear hearts, and lots of other blue and white glitters, in a clear base. There's also some iridescent glitters in there which for some reason were showing up brownish in these pictures... Please ignore that. In reality they flash nice iridescent colors.

This is three coats of Love In A Cold Climate over China Glaze For Audrey.
I did have to fish for the heart glitter but I blame that on the mini brush. They're pretty big so you gotta be patient to retrieve them. But it is worth it because they're great.

The set of 4 full size polishes is available for $36 or individually for $10.
Minis are sold as a set for $18, or individually for $5.
Get 'em right here in the Pirate Polish Etsy shop! And don't forget to check them out on Facebook.

BONUS: Pirate Polish is offering a 10% store-wide discount code this week!
"AWAYONVACAY" is the code - it's to make up for the fact that they will be out of town until Saturday, so all orders made during this period will ship after they return.

Product sent for honest review.

Pirate Polish Christmas Collection - swatches and review!

Hey everyone! I have a festive post for you today, featuring five beautiful polishes from one of my favorite indie sellers, Pirate Polish!

This is the Christmas Collection from Pirate Polish! I love holiday polishes, they are so fun.

I'll start out by showing you my favorite of the set!

Pirate Polish - Sugar Cookies
Don't you just want to eat this up?! It's so cute and such a good interpretation of sugar cookies for your nails.
Here I layered 2 coats of Sugar Cookies over one coat of white polish, just to ensure perfect opacity.
The glitter was not hard to fish out and I just love the squares and the colors and man, it's perfect!

Pirate Polish - Christmas Tree In Blue
My second favorite! A great layering glitter in a clear base. There's all sorts of blue, silver and white glitter.
Here I've shown two coats layered over Zoya Kristen.
Again, no issues with getting enough glitter onto the brush, great formula. I really like the bar glitters in this one because they're big enough that they don't look hairy and I didn't have issues with them poking out and annoying me.

If you like this one, I just miiiiiight have a bottle for an upcoming giveaway... Keep your eyes peeled... ;)

Pirate Polish - Joyeux Noel
How Christmasy is this?! Red and green and gold glitter in different sizes, in a clear base. The layering possibilities for this one are endless, but I chose to layer it over a green creme, Essie Pretty Edgy.
I've worn this once already, and I got a ton of compliments on it! People kept noticing how festive my nails were.

Pirate Polish - Holiday Glow
This is a crazy flakey glittery sparkly golden polish. I chose to layer it over a dark blue (Orly Shockwave) but it can also be worn alone with 2-3 coats.
This is packed with the ultrafine flakes and its totally gorgeous! Big win.

Pirate Polish - Christmas Lights
Last but certainly not least, a dark purple jelly filled with bright hexes and tiny silver holographic glitter. Definitely looks like twinkling Christmas lights!
I layered two coats over OPI Eiffel For This Color which was the perfect base match!
With this one I did have to fish for some glitter a little but it wasn't a major pain.
Super cute!

You can get these polishes in the Pirate Polish Etsy Shop.
The full-size polishes are $10 each, or $45 for the set.
Mini size are $5 each, or $22 for the set.

Pirate Polish - Orb of Thessala

Hey guys! I've got a great indie polish to show off today.

Hooray for indies that don't disappoint!

The lovely Tara from Pirate Polish was kind enough to send me some of her polishes for review.
You may remember I posted her Halloween collection last month!

Today I'll be showing you a polish that was inspired by Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I'm not a Buffy fan so the reference is lost on me, but I'm sure Buffy fans get it! Haha.

Even though I might not get the inspiration, I totally looooooove the polish!

Pirate Polish - Orb of Thessala
Not quite sure why I decided to wear three different colors today, but I did. And I wanted to layer this glitter over all of them. And it turned out lovely!

Orb of Thessala is a clear base with white and silver square glitter, and a ton of holographic shimmer/microglitter. You only need one coat to get a ton of sparkly goodness on your nail.
The glitter is not bumpy and one coat of topcoat is all you need.

The colors I layered this over are Orly - Fancy Fuchsia, OPI - My Very First Knockwurst, and Color Club - Where's The Soiree?
We'll call this a double accent nail. I was just feelin' the pink/black/nude.

I layered this polish over a bunch of stuff on some nail wheels and it truly looks great over anything! I love the holo sparkle it adds, and of course square glitter is always fun.

Love it!
Pirate Polish Lacquers are 15mL, big 3 free, and retail for $10.

Pirate Polish Halloween Collection Lacquers

Hey guys! I am interrupting the 31 Day Challenge for a great swatch post! (Don't worry, I'll get the challenge post up later.)

The lovely Tara from Pirate Polish sent me some of her creations for review, including her new Halloween Collection!
I know a lot of polish-lovers are also Halloween-lovers, so I had to get these swatches up for you guys ASAP! This collection is totally awesome and I hope you like it as much as I do.

Here are some quick wheel swatches! All the swatches above are 2 coats.

Pirate Polish is a Canadian indie brand! Yay for fellow Canadians!

I also want to show off the label on the full-size polishes before I move on to the swatches. Lacquer Ahoy! I love it. (I'll be swatching my two full-size ones for you in the coming days, but like I said, these Halloween babies needed to be seen!)

Okay, let's go! I'm starting with my favorite of the collection. (Duh.)

Pirate Polish - The Witching Hour
Ahhhhhhh I love this polish so much. This has officially become one of my favorite indies ever!

Turquoise and purple shredded glitter, small pink glitter, and large blue glitter. Too cool!

This is two coats of glitter over 2 coats of Color Club - Puccilicious.
The glitter goes on nice and even and I didn't need to push it around. You definitely need topcoat to smooth it out though.
Is seven pictures too much for this polish? Nope.

Ugghhhhhhhh I love it. LOVE IT.
I wanna wear it over everything. It's got all my favorite colors. It's perfect.

Pirate Polish - Fangs
Another great polish!  Here I've shown two coats of glitter over Zoya - Dove.
Again the formula of the glitter is easy to work with, I didn't have trouble getting glitter onto the nail and it spread out evenly.
I think the diamonds add a nice touch, and the contrast of the metallic red glitter with the matte black and white glitter is really cool!
I love how this looks. Great creation.

Pirate Polish - Zombies!
Zombies! is the only polish in the collection with a tinted base. It's a semi-sheer milky green base filled with small black squares and medium black hexes.
I layered 2 coats of Zombies over China Glaze - Re-Fresh Mint just to give it that extra opacity underneath.
It's kinda like mint chocolate chip ice cream. Very cute!

Pirate Polish - Trick or Treat
I think this is the perfect Halloween polish! Black and orange glitter in fun shapes.
Again, no complaints about the formula, 2 coats, spreads nice, no fussing!
Shown here is 2 coats over China Glaze - Exotic Encounters.

Pirate Polish - Autumn Embers
Orange lovers rejoice! A sparkly orange glitter bomb.

It is so freaking glittery and reflective that it is pretty hard to show you the details of the glitter, but check the wheel swatch from the beginning of the post for another look.
There's some holo glitter adding extra sparkle, huge coppery-orange hexes, and a whole bunch of other orange metallic sparkly goodness.
It is totally glitter-packed. This is 2 coats layered over China Glaze - Riveting.

Well there you have it! Five awesome Halloween glitters to get you in the spooky mood.

Pirate Polishes are 15mL, big 3 free, and are currently available in the Pirate Polish Etsy Shop!
They retail for $10 each or $45 for the whole Halloween set!
And be sure to check out Pirate Polish on Facebook.

I'm going to go drool over The Witching Hour some more. See you later!
