40 days

40 days of what you say? Lent.
I'm not religious, however, I've decided to stop buying polish for Lent this year.
My polish buying has gotten out of hand, and I have acknowledged that.
I figure no collections will come out before Easter, so no buying until after Easter.
(This does not include anything my boyfriend may buy me, or anything I convince my mom to get me for Easter... or the Tronica polishes Kayla Shevonne has coming for us because technically those were arranged before lent. OH and if I find the remaining CG Crackle I need, that doesn't count.)

Good luck to me and to any other polish addicts who have chosen to do this!

So on the first day of Lent, I have some simple nail art for you.

I don't go matte much, but when I did this I was craving the matte look.

For the dots I used 3 unnamed polishes I've had since I was little.
The black is Wet N Wild Wild Shine Black Creme, with Icing's Matte About You topcoat.

I like the matte look, but the chips just kill me!
Matte = no Seche Vite = very quick chipping.


So day 1 of no polish buying is coming to a close.
The idea of not buying polish is making me remember all the polishes I've been thinking about buying lately... haha!
I was planning on picking up a few more Color Addict shades, I've been awaiting Milani Gems to show up here, and the new Insta-Dry polishes are "coming soon" to my Walmarts.
I guess those things will fall under boyfriend or easter polishes :P

I took some pictures of yesterday's haul to mark my last haul until Easter.

The holo particles in these polishes aren't very noticeable, I hope it shows up a bit more on the nail.
I can't wait to try stamping with these!!

I couldn't capture all the colors of this polish with the limited time I had this morning to take these photos, but it is really gorgeous.
Dark purple/blue/blurple with lighter blue flash, sometimes in the bottle you can even see pink.
Hopefully when I swatch this it will show all it's beautiful colors.

pink zebra

I realized the other day that I've never actually done black and white zebra...
I'll put that on my to-do list.

So for today, I have pink zebra for you!

Excuse the ink stains on my index finger.
This is sort of old, I forgot how much I like it!

The base color is Wet N Wild Wild Shine, but I'm not sure of the name.
I stamped with Sally Hansen Insta-Dry in Presto Pink.

Before class this morning I went to Sally's and picked up a few (read: 4) polishes.
2 from China Glaze Tronica - Electric Magenta and Gamer Glam.
Out of the 12 polishes I'm only into 3 or 4, and thankfully they had 2 there. I still need Techno Teal! And maybe Hyper Haute!
I got Carnation Creation from the new Finger Paints collection. The ring is so cute!
And I couldn't leave Orly's Royal Velvet from the Precious Collection behind.
Swatches to come in the next few days :)

(After the new Insta-Dry line hits my Walmarts, I'm going on a no-buy. Seriously.)

Okay, it's been a few days, here is some more crackle!
Tomorrow my Sally's is supposed to restock their crackles, I really hope I can get the other 3 I want!

This is China Glaze Broken Hearted over Entourage.
I wish I had a brighter green, though. Like the green from Poolside.
I'm thinking about buying the whole Poolside collection on eBay. It works out to the same price as if I had bought them at Sally's in the first place, so it's not too bad.

Speaking of eBay, yesterday I bought Color Club Fashion Addict to fill my Catwalk Queen set!
And because shipping on each additional item was only 99 cents, I also bought Worth The Risque.
It was $14 for both. Not bad.
I don't have any linear holos, I hope these aren't duds!

review - ebay 2-way nail art pens

Hey! Today I'm going to do my first product review for this blog.
I'm going to review something that, when I bought it, I wanted to be able to read reviews but couldn't find many detailed ones.
The 2-Way Nail Art Pens from eBay!

They come in sets- 6, 12, 24, 36... all the way up to 60.
I bought the 60. If you're going to get something, you might as well get them all, right?
Anyway it was only $30 Canadian and shipping was free. That's 50 cents per polish!

wet n wild - party of five glitters

After I swatched Obsess last night, I added a little "somethin-something" as I said in my last post.
That polish was from the new Wet N Wild collection, Party Of Five Glitters!

I wanted this polish really badly to somewhat soothe my need for Deborah Lippmann's Happy Birthday, however when it finally arrived here I wasn't able to get a bottle.
Luckily, my friend and fellow blogger picked up the last 2 bottles at one of our local Walmart's, and offered one to me!
So we had a little swap.

She is a doll and she will be having a huge giveway when she reaches 500 followers.
I have some inside details - it's gonna be good!

So last night was the first time I used my PO5G.
It isn't as glitter-packed as Happy Birthday, but it is still super cute!

Here is a closeup of the glitter.

The 5 glitters in the "party" are all hexagonal, there are small red & green pieces, medium fuchsia and blue, and large silver.
Happy Birthday has more colors but hey, this is still cool.

I sponged it onto the tips of Obsess!

The glitter is super sparkley. It is sunny out now and I keep twisting my fingers in the light to see the light reflect off all the different particles.

Sponging it onto the tips was sort of difficult, to get enough glitter on there you also ended up with a thick layer of the clear base as well, which can get messy and gloopy.
I had to put some on, wait for it to dry, and then add a second layer, to get the amount of glitter that I wanted.

I'm really happy with how this turned out!
