framing fail!

I bet you guys have seen framed manis going around the nail world lately.
I didn't really like them until I saw this mani from my friend Kim @ feedkmayeorchids.
I redid it pretty much instantly after seeing it!

But I kinda failed. My stamping didn't come out clean and my frames were super uneven.
You probably don't see the flaws the way I do... But they are there!

I wanted to love this mani but I just couldn't see past the imperfections!
It's such a cool idea, though. I love the zebra and the pink and the gold!

The zebra image comes from Konad m57.
The pink is Color Club - Peppermint Twist.
The gold is Milani Jewel FX - Gold.
The mani began with a white and black zebra nail and I added the pink around the edge with a small brush.

Looks pretty cool from afar, right? Haha!

What do you guys think? Have you guys tried these difficult frames on your nails?

  1. I think this looks great! The zebra and pink are cute.
I have yet to try this, I'm not sure how I feel about the framing yet.

  8. It looks wonderful! The colours and patterns are awesome! I tried the frame thing with a nail art pen, thinking it would help the process a little but it did NOT work in my favour :(

  11. I think it turned out great, I love the colors you chose. Perhaps you should use a teeny tiny bit darker pink, maybe not so neon-ish, that'd make the edges more sharp. :)

  14. I don't at all see what you are seeing. I'm not just saying that either, I see a little bit of smudging on the zebra but I still love it either way.

  15. Very cute mani! Maybe if you make the frames thinner, it'll look cooler, but the imperfections aren't visible unless you actually scrutinize the mani from up close :)

  19. I think it looks nice! I know what you mean, though, the slightest imperfections drive me crazy with mine too. I think people have an easier time doing the frames with acrylic paint, then they can control it a bit easier, plus its easier to clean up the edges, either by scraping it off or using water/alcohol and it doesn't mess up the polish underneath.
I personally haven't tried it because I don't like the look of the frames, but all the neatest ones I've seen were done with acrylics. Try it with neon pink paint! :)

  20. I love the color combo! It actually looks a lot better than you think! It doesn't look as 'busy' as it is described lol. And same thing happened to me last week, I did one framed mani that I -looooved- then the next attempt sucked -__- Great post!
