photo gallery!

Hey guys!
I just added a cool new feature to my blog, thanks to my friend (and fellow Canadian) Kim from To Polish Or Not! She just posted about this feature and I had to do it immediately.

Basically, Blogger lets you view a blog in new "dynamic views" - and one of the views is kinda like a photo gallery!
If you click the "Photo Gallery" tab above, the blog will switch to a "Snapshot" view, and you can view all my pictures in a nice gallery! You can click the photos to go to the post.
And when you wanna come back to the normal view, just click back on the blog name.

I think this is an awesome feature! Definitely a nice way to scroll through blogs and check them out.
If you want to see your blog in the dynamic views, don't actually change your template to dynamic because you can erase your current layout. What you want to do is type in "/view" after your URL (ex: rebeccalikesnails.blogspot.com/view) and you'll be taken to the dynamic view page. Then, in the top left corner, you can switch between the different types of dynamic views. And hit your blog name to go back to normal.
Kim's post that I linked above is a little more explanatory, so check it out.

And just so this post isn't photo-less... Here's a teaser of the polish I'll be showing off tomorrow...

Yum.

  1. Wow - that's a great idea! Thanks for sharing. So how do you just set up dynamic view on one page?

    1. it's not so much that it's just on the one page, but that the page is a link to the blog itself in Snapshot view. :)
      i hope that makes sense!
if you add /view to the end of your blog, the dynamic view will show up and then there is a dropdown bar in the top left to change the view.
Kim's post that I linked to has more explanation!

    2. Ah ha. I get that - but how do you make the link on the page header. I mean how do you make Photo Gallery go to the /view page?

    3. oh ok, when you add a new page to your blog it lets you choose "Blank page" or "Web address" - I chose web address and just put in the blog URL with the /view/Snapshot on the end :)

    4. Thank you so much Rebecca - that's worked perfectly! I was using the old interface and that option isn't available until I changed to the new interface. All sorted now and what a great idea! By the way I'll take this opportunity to personally thank you (well via post!) for your post on making nail polish jewelry. I've had a lovely time making all sorts of earrings, rings and pendants, thanks to your inspiration.

    5. yay I'm glad you figured it out! funny how some options aren't available in the old interface, and then some didn't make it to the new one... dumb.

and woohoo i'm so glad you enjoyed that post! :)

  2. OMG, after reading this, I went to my blogger and hit "dynamic view" and it changed my WHOLE blog to dynamic view instead of having that option in a menu for a viewer like you did. I just spent this whole time since you posted this until now frantically re-building my blog - trying to get back to what it used to be....fonts, sizes, etc. Soooo, stressful!

    2. i think the mistake might be that you actually switched your template to the dynamic view, whereas if you just type "/view" after your URL, you can view it dynamically.

    3. That's EXACTLY the mistake I made. I think I finally got it pretty close to what I had before. After this, I have realized that I can "backup" my blog on my hard drive by click that "backup/restore" button on the top right so if this would ever happen again, I would have it saved. Don't be sorry....I am a little hasty sometimes and I shouldn't go around clicking stuff when I don't know what in the heck I am doing!! lol.
