stamping tests!

Hey guys, today I'm going to show you some stamping tests I did recently with new polishes I got.

I got a couple of Insta-Dri's a few weeks ago. Silver Sweep, Rapid Red, and Whirlwind White.
First I'll show you Silver Sweep, as compared to China Glaze Millennium, AKA pretty much the best silver stamping polish ever.

Silver Sweep, Millennium
Silver Sweep, Millennium

As you can see, there isn't a big difference. Millennium seems to be a little brighter, but you really can't tell the difference in person.
So this is a good polish to pick up! Millennium can only be found on ebay now, but you can get Silver Sweep anywhere Sally Hansen is sold.

Then I picked up Rapid Red and was really excited about it, but it was a big disappointment.

:(
I need a red creme stamping polish dammit!

And then there was Whirlwind White. Now this one is a bit tricky. There are 2 formulas.
You'll notice in my first picture that the Whirlwind White does not have a sticker on the top of the bottle.
That means that is is not the good one. If you want to buy this polish, make sure it is the new formula, with the name on the top of the bottle.
So I bought a second bottle of Whirlwind White, with the sticker. And returned the wrong one. But only after doing a comparison of course!
Allow me to show you the difference in the new and old formula.

old, new.

I didn't clean the plate between stamps which is why the new formula's stamp is not perfect. But I assure you it is good.

New formula

It's even good over black! (Again, the plate wasn't clean so it could have been better but this shows the opacity fine.)
So this polish is something you should look for if you want a white stamping polish but don't want to pay for Konad Special polish. It isn't quite as good, but it is pretty damn close.

So this stamping leads me to believe that it is pretty much only the new formula of Insta-Dri that is awesome for stamping.
The only ones I've tried that don't work are the ones without the sticker. Rapid Red being one of them.

I did one more stamping test when I did these, because the polishes were nearby.

Fashion Addict, Worth the Risque

These don't work well.

Not opaque over black or white.

Anyway, that's all I have for you today!
Sometime soon, as a request from a friend, I'm going to do a post of all the polishes I like to stamp with.
I'm probably going to work on that on Tuesday.

  2. Rimmel does a really good stamping red- it's one of the 60 second polishes, and has a name with 'Rock' in it or something. I'm not sure what the exact name is, i read about it being an awesome stamping red on another blog about two months ago. Hope it helps!

  3. I got a Rapid Red with the sticker on top, and it's not good either. I had the same thought that it would be a good red creme stamping.... no such luck. And I remember what Abby is talking about. (http://www.emeraldsparkled.com/2011/01/from-vault-my-dark-valentine.html) Rimmel London Rock'n Red .... it's not a creme though. It's got some glitter.

  4. I love Whirlwind White. I need to go get another 3 bottles to keep for later. I will have to make sure about the sticker on top. :) Also I just picked up a few metallic polishes I want to try out for stamping including Joe Grape and China Glaze Avalanche which are both kind of purple metallic. :)
    Thank you for the comparisons!

  5. YAY! I look forward to your stamping polish list. I'm looking for a good gold to stamp with. Konad's gold was such a let down =[

I do have a full (big) bottle of Red Konad stamping polish if someone would like to swap for some black stamping polish (doesnt need to be konad polish, ive heard wet n wild black creme is fantastic for stamping)..... my email is joyfalula(at)gmail.com if anyone would like to make a swap
